MEWSo’s services are not limited to social activities and advice sessions catered, but not exclusive to, Middle Eastern, North African, and Asian women in London. We also have a number of active campaigns that challenge patriarchal and misogynistic practices around the world. At MEWSo, we are passionate about tackling serious gender related injustices such as issues around polygamy and hymenoplasty that continue to have a detrimental impact on the mental and physical health of women around the world, displaced or otherwise, and our aim is to ultimately stamp out such practices in UK society.
Our campaigns aim to not only advise those women affected, but to also educate them and the community that such practices no longer have a place in today’s society. We hope that our campaigns also help educate relevant authorities, organisations and the Government on the best ways to tackle such issues in order to bring the best possible results for our women in BME communities.
Currently, we are in the process of writing up the different types of work we do alongside our activities.
