We are extremely upset and angry about the death of 22 year-old Mahsa Amini, who died after being detained by the Morality Police in Iran for being insufficiently covered by her hijab.
Women all over Iran are now leading the protests against the hijab in defiance of Islamic State laws. And, what is really fantastic, is that the men in that country are supporting their women. They are standing by them, demonstrating and protesting alongside.
Even Iran's national football team protested at a friendly match with Senegal, by covering up the country's national symbol on their uniforms by wearing black jackets.
Since the revolution, the Women's Liberation Movement has been fighting against this gender apartheid and the misogynistic rules that dictate what women in Iran should wear, what they can say or do, and how they should be seen.
THEY HAVE HAD ENOUGH!
Now, men and women, young and old, activists, workers and students are all protesting against this Regime. They are fighting for the freedom to wear whatever they want - hijab or no hijab. They are fighting for equal rights. They are fighting for human rights.
And we are proud to stand in solidarity with the Iranian people.
