Treasurer on the Board of Trustees

MEWSo are looking for a Treasurer. You will have the opportunity to be part of a rewarding experience, by helping our Board have a clear perspective on financial matters so we can continue growing.

What will you be doing?
As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of MEWSo's financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. The Treasurer will oversee and lead on our plans to set up a robust system for forecasting with a view to diversifying our income.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for proactive individuals who are willing to be engaged in MEWSo's work and support the staff when needed. We particularly encourage applications from women who have the following experience and qualities:

​

  • experience/skills in accounting (knowledge of charity accounting is essential)

  • ability to lead and explain financial information

  • tact and diplomacy

  • good communication and interpersonal skills

  • have a passion for MEWSo's work

  • can make the time commitment

  • no significant potential of conflict of interest.


We are keen to have an inclusive environment and maintain the diversity of our Board; therefore, we would like to hear from women from minority ethnic backgrounds or LGBTQ+ communities to reflect the diverse communities we serve.

Time Commitment

  • The Board meets every two months (currently meetings are held remotely).

  • In addition, being Treasurer requires about 4-6 hours of your time every month (which will become less over time).

  • There also might be some participation in subcommittees and working groups in the future.
