Summer Picnic
Kew Gardens
MEWSo held a picnic for more than 30 people at Kew Gardens, last month, as part of a fun day out in the fresh air and open spaces.
Around 21 women, aged 40 to 75, and 10 children, attended, all of whom were of Iranian, Kurdish, Afghani and Uzbeki backgrounds.
The majority of them had been refugees or asylum seekers in the past and suffer mobility and/or mental health issues. So the picnic was arranged so they could wander among the vast array of trees and flowers, connect with each other and connect with nature.
The outing was part of a community project funded by the London Community Foundation and the Paddington Central Community Fund. For more information about MEWSo projects and services, please click Services or email: office@mewso.org.
